Chloromycetin is used for treatment of certain infections caused by bacteria
How Taken
Take Chloromycetin with a glass of water as directed by your doctor. It is recommended to take Chloromycetin either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. To clear up your infection completely, take Suprax for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Chloromycetin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Chloromycetin, if you have anemia, liver disease, bleeding, or other blood problems, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Chloromycetin while you are pregnant. Chloromycetin passes into breast milk. Do not breast feed while taking Chloromycetin. Some medicines may interact with Chloromycetin. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Chloromycetin may cause blood problems, slow healing, and bleeding of the gums. Be careful when using regular toothbrushes, dental floss, and toothpicks. Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Minomycin before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. Chloromycetin may cause false test results with urine sugar tests.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
are– Diarrhea, nausea or vomiting Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately– Pale skin, sore throat and fever, unusual bleeding or bruising, unusual tiredness or weakness, confusion, delirium, or headache, eye pain, blurred vision, or loss of vision, numbness, tingling, burning pain, or weakness in the hands or feet, skin rash, fever, or difficulty in breathing
Storage
Store Chloromycetin at room temperature. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Chloromycetin out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately.
More Information
Chloromycetin may cause blurred vision. These effects may worsen if Chloromycetin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Chloromycetin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Chloromycetin should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
